Dallas Has Some Stories to Tell

From the early beginnings of this town, through the turbulent 60s and the JFK assassination aftermath, and on toward a brighter future, Dallas has a wealth of stories to tell. Some are sad, some are puzzling, some are funny, but they're all worth sharing.

I was born in November of 1963. In the same hospital Stevie Ray Vaughan was born in almost a decade prior. I've always felt a connection to those stories but a few years ago, I opened up a whole new world of Dallas stories.

I worked briefly as a tour guide in downtown Dallas a few years ago. I learned more things about Dallas than I thought anyone could know. Hearing those stories (and then retelling them) made me want to learn even more about the history of Dallas. You'll find some little-known, fun facts about Dallas in my stories, so it won't feel like a boring history lecture. I'll also include some sources where you can do a deeper dive if you (like me) have an insatiable curiosity about all things Dallas.

Stay tuned, there is so much more to come.!

I love art and I love history. My favorite art tells a story from the past, captures the present moment perfectly, or predicts a future based on the story so far. Maybe that's why I'm obsessed with murals.

Of all the icons of Dallas, there's none more beloved than our red Pegasus. I'm sharing a timeline that tells the story, and I'll share some little-known facts too. Best of all, I'll tell you what you really want to know - where to find Pegasus art all over Dallas and beyond.
