Shop For (or With) Your Guy in Bishop Arts

The Bishop Arts district in north Oak Cliff is known for its independent restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. It’s a charming neighborhood that also delivers unique shopping experiences in a very instagrammable setting. That makes it a great place for gal pals to hang out, but what about the guys? With several shops offering beer while you browse (or get a shave or haircut), guys just might enjoy hanging out here too. And if not, you can always find great gifts for them here.
DFW Mantiques
301 W Eighth St
Antiquing isn’t all about shabby chic, and this place proves it. With vintage clothing and jewelry for men in addition to collectibles like knives, cigar boxes, cameras, and more, it’s completely geared toward men. You know what else they have? A kegerator. That means you can enjoy a complimentary beer while you browse. If that’s not enough to get your guy shopping, then drop in on your own and find him the perfect gift. Guys can feel completely at home shopping here, and the shop even gives out free beer while you shop.
Dude, Sweet Chocolate
408 W. 8th St. – Sweet #102
Most people think of chocolate as a gift for women, but c’mon, this place has dude right in its name. The minimalist packaging isn’t girly at all and the shop has an edgy, almost “street” vibe. Of course the chocolate is remarkable too. Unique flavors like Albatross and When Pigs Fly fudge will get his attention.
Indigo 1745
370 W 7th St
If your guy likes high fashion but still likes to be comfortable, he’ll love the curated selection at Indigo 1745. With a focus on denim and unique accessories, their collection for men is just as impressive as their women’s section.

The Wild Detectives
314 W Eighth St.
Let's face it, shopping at Wild Detectives is really just an excuse to hang out at a cool place and have a drink, right? This bookstore bar has it all including beer, wine, cocktails, and coffee. But if your guy is a book lover, you can also pick up a great gift for him here. If you don't find the perfect choice in their curated collection, they'll order any book you want. Orders are shipped to the store and they'll even buy you a drink when you come to pick it up. With policies like that, you might find your guy starting to love “shopping.”

Bishop Cider Co Tasting Room
509 N Bishop Ave. Ste C
The Bishop Cider Tasting Room is a laid-back spot to come and enjoy local ciders on tap. Visit Tuesday through Sunday to taste the difference between this Texas-made cider and other too-sugary ciders that were available before this duo of homebrewers launched their brand. Grab some to-go cans or fill a growler as a gift for any great guy in your life.
Red Pegasus Comics
319 N Bishop Ave
If your guy loves comic books or graphic novels, he’ll love Red Pegasus Comics. After a start as a pop up, the store opened in 2015, occupied a cute little red house in Oak Cliff for a few years, and finally moved right into the thick of things in the Bishop Arts Districts. Despite its small size, the shop is a go-to spot for collectors and casual readers alike. With its nice assortment of branded merchandise, toys, and collectibles, it’s also a great place to pick up a gift for any superhero who happens to love superheroes.
AJ Vagabonds
336 W Eighth St
In addition to its outdoor lifestyle merchandise, AJ Vagabonds fosters an emphasis on local goods, community activism, and embracing the “Go Outside” lifestyle. You’ll find upscale brands of outdoor gear alongside accessories and trinkets designed by Dallas artists. It’s a great hangout space in a cool Craftsman style house. With a cozy porch, a small outdoor stage and seating area, and some unique treasures outside on the property, the store creates a vibe you and your guy might never want to leave.

Brass Tacks Barbershop
330 W Davis St
At Brass Tacks Barbershop, your guy can listen to great music and enjoy beer from a local brewery while getting a shave and a haircut. Maybe he’d like to hang out there while you shop. If he’s not the “hang out while you shop” type, or if your guy is a friend (or your Dad) surprise him with a gift card for a straight-razor shave, traditional cut, or both.

Wrap up paragraph. You can always wait till Christmas for the Neiman Marcus catalog.
