No Plus One Needed
Ah, Valentine’s Day! The one day a year when happy couples romanticize all the things (and overpay for roses.) And since Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday this year, it’s getting an extra long life. Some started celebrating last weekend. Most won’t stop till Monday of next week. That’s a long time to hide inside if you’re single. It also seems like a long time to wait for candy to be half price, but maybe that’s just me.
Speaking of just me, I’m literally JUST me. I’m perpetually single and perfectly happy about it. Valentine’s Day is just another day to me. (Except for the candy sale afterward. That’s MY holiday.) But what about you? Are you still suffering the pangs of a recent breakup? Are you happily single but not in the mood for a girly “Galentine’s”outing? Do you absolutely hate Valentine’s day? Love your dog more than any recent significant other? Well, fear not, Dallas has a Valentine’s Day activity custom made for you.
Whatever your state of singlehood, you won’t need a plus one to enjoy Valentines Day activities in Dallas.
Singles Awareness Day
Let’s start with the alternative holiday celebrated by singles everywhere the day after Valentine’s Day. Here in Dallas, we start early, and we have options. Check out one (or all) of these three soirees on Thursday or Friday night.

Show up early – all those creative cocktails are $3 at 3PM, $4 at 4PM, and $5 at 5PM.

When I came across this event I didn’t recognize the name of the place. I thought for a moment that a new restaurant had opened in Dallas and I had missed it. Nope, it’s Canvas Hotel Dallas, formerly known as NYLO Dallas and they’re hosting a Singles Awarenss Party. This one sounds like a celebration of singlehood with free bubbly for the first 25 guests. There’ll also be a live DJ and happy hour specials. While you’re there, check out the newly refurbished hotel’s art-inspired interior. You’ll see collections of work from Dallas area artists as you make your way up to another great view – The Gallery Rooftop Lounge (formerly known as Soda Bar.)
