What to Eat at the State Fair of Texas

There are so many things to eat at the fair – how can you possibly choose. I’ve got a few thoughts here, but if you’re really stuck, just spin the wheel!

Insider Tip: Even if you know your way around the fair, and even if you are using the Fair Guide, it can be hard to find some of the food choices. Ask at an information booth!! They have a complete list of state fair food and drinks, and they can be very specific. It will save you time!

I spent three days at the fair, and I ate as much as I could and made note of the rest for a future visit. (A season pass is a must-have if you’re a big fan of Big Tex.)

Fletcher’s Corny Dog, Turkey Leg, Cotton Candy, Tater Twisters

Sausage on a stick, Steak Dinner on a stick, Pork Chop on a stick

 Fried Choices

Collard Greens, Chicken Parmesan,  of course snickers and oreos – even nutter butters and twinkies – fried banana pudding

Cajun Fried Devil Eggs & Fried Green Tomatoes (or try some boudin)

Chicken and Waffles, or get them separately. I had Fried Stuffed Chicken Wing, and a Belgian Waffle. If that Belgian Waffle seems good but messy, try the Fried Chocolate Covered Strawberry Waffle Balls. Jack’s Breakfast, Sweet Bakin’Bacon, maybe bacon brittle instead

CHERISH ERBERT CHAMPAGNE

Texas-Shaped

Funnel Cakes, Pizza (there is also fried pizza – the line was long.)
